Password protection is a valuable feature that allows you to limit access to your Vev projects after they are published.
This feature is exclusively available for users on the Professional and Organization plan, and can only be implemented on projects published to the Staging Domain and Standard Hosting.
How to Enable Password Protection
To enable password protection on your Vev project, follow these steps:
Open the project you wish to protect and access the Publish Menu.
Find the publish destination where your project is or will be published, and click the Lock Icon next to it.
Enter a password in the Set Password field.
Click Save to confirm the password settings.
Select Publish to apply the password protection to your project.
Once enabled, anyone attempting to access your project will need to enter the set password to view the content.
Note: Each password-protected project can have a unique password, but the design of the password protection page is account-wide to keep it consistent across all password protected projects. To modify the design of the password protection page, read here.
How to Remove Password Protection
To remove password protection from your Vev project, follow these steps:
Navigate to the Publish Menu of the project from which you want to remove the password protection.
Click the Lock Icon next to the relevant publish destination.
Click Remove to confirm the removal of password protection.
Select Publish to apply the changes.
Removing password protection will allow all visitors to view the content without entering a password.
Customizing Your Password Page
Customize the design of your password page to align it with your brand or project theme.
This feature is exclusively available as an add-on to users on the Organization plan and can only be implemented on projects published to the Staging Domain and Standard Hosting.
How to Customize
In the Set Password modal, click Edit Password Protection Page to access the hosting settings where you can find the Password Protection section at the bottom.
Alternatively, go directly to Account Settings > Hosting, and scroll to the Password Protection section at the bottom of the list to click Edit Design.
Once you have created the password protection page it will work as any other Vev projects and you can design freely. It will end up in your Drafts, and you can move and share it as you are used to.
To apply the design changes you have done to your Password Protection page make sure to open the publish menu and "Publish password page".
Password Component
Unique to the password protection page is the Password Component which lets your end-user enter the password to enter. If accidentally removed, you can retrieve the Password Component from the Add-Menu as a Main Component.
Styling options for the Password Component:
Text Styling: Customize the text styling for the password input and the login button.
Border Radius: Adjust the border radius for both the input field and the login button.
Effects: Add effects to the input field and the login button. Details on Effects and how to apply them are here
Note: The password protection page is account wide, so keep in mind when editing the password page that it will update all instances where the password protection page is used.
Restore to Original Design
To revert to the original design of the password page:
Go to Account Settings > Hosting.
Locate the Password Protection settings at the bottom.
Click Restore to Original Design.
Remove Vev Watermark
If you would like to remove the Vev watermark from your Password Protection page, make sure to add a Project Plan from the publish menu.
