Publishing your project in Vev lets you preview, share, and go live with your content. Whether you're staging for review, publishing to a live domain, or embedding in another site, Vev gives you flexible options based on your workflow.

Publishing to Staging

Your staging site (ending in *.vev.site) is a private, non-indexed space to preview and test your project. This makes it ideal for reviewing updates with your team or clients before going live.

How to Publish to Staging

  1. Open the Publishing window in Vev.

  2. Find your staging domain in the list.

  3. Select it by checking the box.

  4. Click Publish Project.

  5. Once live, click the link to view your staging site in the browser.

Testing on Mobile Devices

After you have published your page, you can enter your vev.site URL on your mobile browser or you click the QR code icon next to the staging URL to generate a QR code you can scan from your phone or tablet.

View All Page States

Staging shows all pages β€” including pages marked as In Progress, On Hold, or Pending β€” helping you review draft content before it’s live.

Publishing to a Custom Domain

Ready to go live on your own URL (like yourcompany.com)? You can publish your project directly to a connected domain. If your domain is already connected,

simply check the domain box in the Publishing window and hit Publish Project.

If You're Adding a Domain for the First Time

  1. Click Add destination in the Publishing window.

  2. In Publish Destination in the Project Settings:

    • A settings panel will appear. Choose your pre-configured hosting from the dropdown list.

    • In the "Path" field, you can either:

      • Leave it blank to publish to the root of your domain (e.g., www.yourdomain.com).

      • Add a specific path to publish to a subdirectory (e.g., entering blog will publish to www.yourdomain.com/blog).

  3. Save the Destination: Click the "Add publish destination" button to save this setting.

  4. Once connected, publish as usual.

Account Plan Limitations

Please be aware of the following limitations based on your account plan:

  • Free Plan: Published projects have a limited preview time of 1 hour. You can republish the project to reset the timer for an additional hour.

  • Paid Account Plan: Removes the time limit, providing continuous live access to your published projects.

Note: Setting up and publishing to a Standard Hosting requires a paid account plan. However, publishing a project without the Vev watermark requires a project plan.

Embedding Your Project

Want to embed a Vev project inside another website or CMS? Here's how:

  1. Check both the Staging domain in the Publishing window.

  2. Click Publish Project.

  3. Once published, select Get embed code next to the Embed option.

  4. Choose the page you want to embed from the dropdown.

  5. Copy the code and paste it into your site.

You can also tweak the embed behavior under Advanced settings. Learn more in our Embed your project documentation.

Other Hosting Options

Vev-generated content is static, meaning it can be hosted anywhere on the web. This gives you total control over your deployment strategy β€” whether you're using a CMS, static site host, CDN, or custom setup.
