What is Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)?

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is a security feature that protects your account by requiring two distinct forms of verification to log in. This adds a critical layer of defense, safeguarding your account even if your password is compromised.

Enabling 2FA helps protect against common security threats, including:

  • Phishing attacks

  • Brute-force password attacks

  • Stolen credential exploitation

Available 2FA Methods in Vev

Vev supports two-factor authentication via two methods. You can choose the one that best fits your workflow:

  • Authenticator App: Use a time-based code from an app on your smartphone (e.g., Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, 1Password).

  • SMS: Receive a one-time code via text message to your mobile phone.

How to Set Up 2FA with an Authenticator App

Before you begin, download and install a TOTP-compatible authenticator app on your mobile device.

Step-by-Step Setup Guide

  1. Navigate to Your Profile:

    • From the Vev dashboard, click on your user avatar at the top of the left sidebar.

    • Select Profile from the menu.

  2. Enable the Authenticator App:

    • In your Profile settings, find the Two-Factor Authentication section.

    • Toggle the switch for Authenticator App to the "on" position.

  3. Verify Your Identity:

    • If prompted, re-enter your password to confirm your identity.

  4. Link Your App:

    • Use your authenticator app to scan the QR code displayed on your screen.

  5. Enter the Verification Code:

    • Type the six-digit code generated by your authenticator app into the field provided.

    • Click Enable.

Important Note: The code from your authenticator app refreshes every 30 seconds. You must use the current, active code to log in. Expired codes will not work.
