Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is a powerful security measure that enhances access security by requiring you to verify your identity through two distinct methods. This added layer of security effectively safeguards against various security threats, including phishing attempts, brute-force attacks, credential exploitation, and more.

In Vev, you have the option to choose between two methods of authenticating yourself:

  • Authenticator App

  • SMS

Setting up 2FA through an Authenticator App

Before enabling 2FA on your Vev account, you'll need to download and install an authentication app on your device. Vev 2FA is compatible with most Time-Based, One-Time Password (TOTP) applications, such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, and 1Password.

Follow these steps to enable two-factor authentication through an authenticator app:

  1. Navigate to the dashboard and click on your user avatar, located at the top of the left sidebar.

  2. Access your Profile settings by selecting the first item on the list that displays your avatar.

  3. In the Profile settings, locate the Two-Factor Authentication option and toggle on Authenticator App.

    • If more than 10 minutes have passed since your last login, you will be prompted to verify your identity again. Follow the on-screen instructions to proceed.

  4. Use your authenticator app to scan the provided QR code.

  5. Enter the code generated by your authenticator app.

  6. Click Enable.

With two-factor authentication configured, you will be required to enter a verification code generated by your authenticator app each time you log back into Vev.

Note: The authentication app generates a time-sensitive, single-use, six-digit token every 30 seconds. Any expired codes will not authenticate your login.

Setting up 2FA through SMS

To enable two-factor authentication through SMS, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the dashboard and click on your user avatar, located at the top of the left sidebar.

  2. Access your Profile settings by selecting the first item on the list that displays your avatar.

  3. In the Profile settings, locate the Two-Factor Authentication option and toggle on SMS.

    • If more than 10 minutes have passed since your last login, you will be prompted to verify your identity again. Follow the on-screen instructions to proceed.

  4. Provide your phone number, including the country code, and click Continue.

  5. Confirm that you're not a robot.

  6. Click Send SMS.

  7. Enter the code received on your phone, and click Enable.

With two-factor authentication configured, you will receive a verification code via SMS each time you log back into Vev.

Disabling two-factor authentication

If you wish to disable two-factor authentication, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the dashboard and click on your user avatar, located at the top of the left sidebar.

  2. Access your Profile settings by selecting the first item on the list that displays your avatar.

  3. In the Profile settings, locate the Two-Factor Authentication option and toggle off the authentication method you want to disable.

    • If more than 10 minutes have passed since your last login, you will be prompted to verify your identity again. Follow the on-screen instructions to proceed.

  4. Confirm your choice by clicking Disable in the pop-up window.
