The Standard Menu component is a foundational tool used for creating traditional navigation menus on your website. It helps organize and link your users to different pages, components, and external resources, ensuring clear and efficient site navigation.
Follow these steps to add the Standard Menu to your project canvas
Access the Add Menu: Open the left panel and click the Add Menu icon (or use the shortcut: M).
Search and Select: Search for and select the Standard Menu component.
Place on Canvas: Click and drag the component and drop it onto your canvas.
Tip: After placing the menu, you must pin the menu to the necessary pages. This critical step ensures the menu is visible across the intended pages of your project and is located at the top of the styles panel in the configuration settings.
Setting Up the Standard Menu Navigation
Once the component is on the canvas, you must define the items and their hierarchy within the menu.
Adding Primary Menu Items
Each entry in the menu is a menu item. To add and configure a primary navigation item:
Open Configuration: Double-click the Standard Menu component.
Add Item: Click the Add menu item button.
Set the Label: Enter the desired name for the link in the Label field. This is the text the user will see.
Choose and Configure Link: Select the appropriate link type from the dropdown menu (e.g., Page, External, Component). You must then use the provided fields to configure the specific link destination.
Repeat: Repeat these steps to add all necessary items. To edit an existing item, click the Pen icon next to the item's name.
Adding Submenu Items (Nesting)
You can create hierarchical navigation by nesting menu items under a parent item, forming a submenu.
Open Configuration: Double-click the Standard Menu.
Identify Items: Ensure you have both the parent menu item and the child/submenu item created in the list.
Drag to Nest: Click and hold the equal icon (=) next to the item you want to make a child item.
Reposition: Drag the item horizontally until it is indented below the desired parent item. This indentation signifies it is now a submenu item.
Rearranging Menu Item Order
The horizontal and vertical display order of the links is controlled by their order in the configuration list.
Open Configuration: Double-click the Standard Menu.
Select and Drag: Click and hold the equal icon (=) next to the menu item you want to move.
Reorder: Drag the item up or down to its new position in the list.
