Setting up SAML SSO for Vev with Okta

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for configuring Single Sign-On (SSO) using SAML 2.0 with Okta as your Identity Provider (IdP) for Vev.

Enable your team to sign in to Vev securely using their Okta credentials. This guide will walk you through creating a SAML integration in Okta and the information you need to provide to Vev to complete the setup.

Prerequisites

  • An active Vev Organization account.

  • Administrator** access in your Okta instance.

  • Your unique Connection Name (provided by your Vev Account Executive or Support).

Step 1: Create the Application in Okta

  1. Log in to your Okta Admin Dashboard.

  2. Navigate to Applications** > Applications in the left-hand sidebar.

  3. Click Create App Integration.

  4. Select SAML 2.0 as the Sign-in method and click Next.

  5. In the General Settings tab, enter "Vev SSO" as the App name. You can also upload the Vev logo here.

  6. Click Next.

Step 2: Configure SAML Settings

In the Configure SAML tab, you first need to uncheck the "Use this for Recipient URL and Destination URL" toggle. Then fill in the following fields using your specific connection name provided by Vev:

Then press next and then finish (no more changes required)

Step 3: Retrieve Information for Vev

After finishing the setup above you will land in the sing on tab of the okta application, here you will see a meta data URL you need to copy and bring withi you into vev

Step 4: Finalize Setup in Vev

Once you have the information from Okta, you must provide it to Vev to activate the connection.

  1. Log in to your Vev Dashboard.

  2. Navigate to Account settings by pressing the account icon in the top of the left sidebar then account settings.

  3. Then press the security tab in the left side bar, this option is only available for organization accounts

  4. Click the "Set up" on the Okta SSO item

  5. Then paste the metadata URL you got in a previous step

In the setup step you will also find the Entity ID that is needed in Step 2

Step 5: Assign Users in Okta

Finally, ensure that your team members are assigned to the Vev application within Okta, or they will receive an error when attempting to sign in.

1. In Okta, go to the Assignments tab of the Vev app.

2. Click Assign > Assign to People (or Groups).

3. Select the users who need access to Vev.
