Ready to start building? Whether you’re working from scratch or bringing in designs from Figma, Vev makes it easy to get started.

You can create a project at any time by clicking the "New Project +” button in the top-right corner of the main dashboard.

The project will be created in whichever space (Drafts, Team Folder, etc.) you're currently viewing. If you create a project from the Home view, it will be automatically placed in Drafts.

Choose How to Start Your Project

When creating a new project, you’ll be given three starting options:

  • Blank Canvas

  • Import from Figma

  • Create from a Template

Blank Canvas

Start with a clean slate — no pre-built content, just you and your creativity.

Choose Your Main Breakpoint

When starting from a blank canvas, you’ll choose a main breakpoint — the screen size where you’ll do most of your design work:

  • Desktop-first

  • Tablet-first

  • Mobile-first

The main breakpoint determines where styling begins. For example, if you start with desktop-first, your styles (size, color, layout, etc.) will cascade down to tablet and mobile. Learn more about breakpoints.

Default Breakpoint Sizes:

  • Desktop: 1024px and up

  • Tablet: 600px – 1023px

  • Mobile: 599px – 320px (320px is the minimum canvas size)

Saved Breakpoint Presets

If you often work with custom breakpoints, you can save them as a preset:

  • Click “Create new preset+”

  • Name your preset and define your breakpoints

  • You can add or adjust breakpoints, and choose a new main breakpoint by editing and selecting the checkbox

Saved presets can be reused for both new projects and templates.

Upgrade to the Professional or Organizational plan to save and reuse breakpoint presets across multiple projects.

Import from Figma

Already have designs in Figma? You can import them directly into Vev.

How it works:

  • Choose “Figma Import”

  • Authorize access to your Figma account (if not already connected)

  • Paste your Figma file URL and click “Start import”.

This will pull your Figma design into Vev as a static layout, ready for you to add interactivity and responsiveness.

💡 Check out our Figma import guide to get the best results when importing.

Create from a Template

Templates help you kickstart projects with ready-made layouts and styles.

  • Choose from a selection of templates provided by Vev or ones created within your own account.

  • Templates are organized by use case — great for articles, campaigns, product pages, and more.

Projects created from templates use the breakpoints defined in the template, so you won’t need to choose them manually.

If you’re brand new to Vev and find designing in a new tool to be intimidating, we recommend viewing some of these templates to explore how to build in Vev and discover some of the features available to you.

Naming Your Project

To name or rename your project:

  1. Click on the Project Title field at the top of the editor. If not set, it will say Untitled.

  2. You can also change the folder where the project is stored from this same menu.

Project Settings

You can enter the Project settings by clicking the cogwheel in the bottom left corner. The settings panel appears on the left side of the editor. Here's what you can adjust:
